Asus ROG Ally 2 Handheld Gaming PC Models Leaked with Distinct Designs and Specifications

Regulatory filings have revealed details about two upcoming models of the Asus ROG Ally 2 handheld gaming PC. These models, identified as the RC73X1 and RC73YA, showcase distinct designs and specifications.

The ROG Ally 2 (RC73X1) features a black body and includes a dedicated Xbox button, hinting at a potential Xbox-branded partnership. The second variant, the ROG Ally (RC73YA), is presented in white and lacks the Xbox button, suggesting it may cater to a different segment of the market. Speculations indicate that the RC73YA might utilize a lower-power processor and could be optimized to run SteamOS, although this remains unconfirmed.

Details were first uncovered by 91mobiles on an Indonesian regulatory website, with additional information sourced from ITHome.

Both models are expected to sport 7-inch displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate, dual USB-C ports, an HDMI port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The black model is anticipated to be a premium offering, equipped with a 36-watt AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme 8-core processor featuring 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute cores. It will support up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x memory and 100 W charging.

Conversely, the white model is expected to incorporate a 20-watt AMD Aerith Plus quad-core processor, representing a modest upgrade from the chip utilized in the Steam Deck. This version is designed for 65 W charging.

Asus appears to be positioning the white model as a more affordable option. Furthermore, the potential integration of Valve’s Linux-based SteamOS could further reduce costs, as Valve has recently enhanced support for third-party handhelds, coinciding with the leak.
